Start This Week
You do not need permission, resources, or a following to begin. Here is what you can do right now, this week, wherever you are.
Do one useful thing this week
If you are stretched thin — working long hours, caring for others, or just trying to get through the week — you do not need to read anything first. Start here:
- Exchange one thing with another person. A ride, a meal, a tool, childcare, a repair, a skill. One real exchange, no money involved.
- Make two lists: one thing you have or can do that someone else needs, and one thing you need that someone else might offer. Share them with someone you know.
- Visit or contact one thing that already exists near you: a food bank, a repair cafe, a tool library, a mutual aid group, a community garden, a cooperative, a free clinic. You do not have to build anything new. People are already doing this.
- Organize one shared purchase or task with people you trust. Buy groceries together. Cook together. Fix something together. Split a bulk order. It does not have to be permanent or organized.
- Notice what changed. Did it save money? Time? Stress? Did it feel different from a transaction? That difference is the seed of everything described on this site.
None of these require reading a book, joining a group, or agreeing with any theory. They work whether or not you ever return to this site. If they help, the rest is here when you want it.
Go deeper: understand the system
Read
Read The Cure — either the full or short version. Not because we say so, but because you cannot evaluate an argument you have not encountered. Read it critically. Question it. Follow up on the evidence. If it does not hold up, discard it.
Talk
Share what you've read with someone you trust. Not to recruit them — to discuss it. Some of the most important work of transition happens in conversations between people who trust each other enough to think out loud about hard questions.
Look around
Start noticing the structural dynamics in your own life. Where does your money go? Who makes the rules about your work? What would be different if your basic needs were met as a right rather than a purchase? You don't need to have answers yet. You need to see the questions clearly.
Connect
Find others who are thinking about these things. Not to form an organization — just to have ongoing conversations. The transition starts in the space between people, not in formal structures.
Share the books
The books are free, by design. Share them with anyone who might be receptive — not to evangelize, but because ideas that can survive scrutiny deserve to be accessible. If someone is not interested, respect that completely.
