What we do
We serve static web pages. Your browser requests a page. Our server sends it. That is the entire interaction when browsing the site.
Why
A site that asks people to think critically about systems of power and control should not be collecting data about the people who visit it. Privacy is not our marketing strategy. It is our principle.
Downloads
When you download a book from this site, we do not record who downloaded it, when, or from where. The download is a direct file transfer with no tracking of any kind.
Discussion system
Everything above applies to browsing this site. You can read every page, download every book, and use every tool without creating an account or providing any personal information.
The site also offers optional discussion rooms for community conversation. If you choose to participate, you create a pseudonymous account — just a username and password of your choosing. No email address, real name, phone number, or other identifying information is requested or collected. The project does not attempt to connect your account to your offline identity. As with any online service, however, technical metadata such as IP addresses may be visible to hosting or infrastructure providers and may appear in server logs outside the project's direct control.
The discussion system stores your chosen username and your messages on a dedicated server (chat.worldintransition.org) so that conversations persist. Your browser may also store session data locally while you are logged in. You can delete your account and all associated messages at any time.
Participation is entirely voluntary. No one is asked, prompted, or pressured to create an account. The discussion system exists for those who want it, and ignoring it changes nothing about the rest of the site.
Technological limitations
We have made every effort to minimize data exposure, but some technical realities are beyond our control. When your browser requests any web page, it transmits your IP address to the server — this is how the internet works, and no website can prevent it. Our hosting provider may retain standard server logs as part of normal operations. We do not access, analyze, or request these logs, and we have chosen a hosting provider in a privacy-respecting jurisdiction. We cannot, however, guarantee what infrastructure operators do with data that passes through their systems.
We state this not as a disclaimer but as an honest acknowledgement: our commitment to your privacy is absolute within the boundaries of what we control, and transparent about what we do not.
