How It Scales

The most common objection to any alternative economic system is that it cannot scale. This is a serious question that deserves a serious answer.

The logistics question

How does a society without currency manage production and distribution of goods and services? The answer involves modern coordination technology, distributed decision-making, and mechanisms that already exist in some form within the current system — supply chain management, logistics networks, resource allocation systems — but redirected to serve human need rather than profit maximization.

The motivation question

Will people work without the threat of deprivation? Evidence from psychology, from existing cooperative models, and from the study of what actually motivates human beings says yes — and that intrinsic motivation (autonomy, mastery, purpose) produces better outcomes than extrinsic pressure (fear of poverty, desire for wealth).

The complexity question

Modern economies are extraordinarily complex. A transitioned system does not eliminate that complexity — it manages it through distributed coordination rather than centralized price signals. The tools to do this at scale exist today in ways they did not a generation ago.
