Lived Stories
Arguments and research make the case for structural change. Lived experience makes it real. This page is for people who have actually been there — who have lived or worked in cooperatives, intentional communities, non-hierarchical organizations, or cultures that operate outside the assumptions of the current system.
If you have spent time in a kibbutz, a worker cooperative, an indigenous community that doesn't use currency, a flat organization, a Transition community, or any environment that challenged what you were told about how societies must work — your experience matters. Not as proof that everything worked perfectly, but as evidence that alternatives exist and that people actually live them.
We are especially interested in honest accounts. What worked. What didn't. What surprised you. What changed your assumptions. The most useful stories are not promotional — they are real.

Cooperative / Worker-Owned
Worker cooperatives, shared ownership, democratic workplaces, credit unions, housing co-ops.
Intentional Community
Kibbutzim, communes, ecovillages, intentional communities past and present.
Non-Hierarchical Workplace
Flat organizations, self-managed teams, workplaces without traditional hierarchy.
Non-Monetary Culture
Indigenous gift economies, barter networks, time banks, cultures that function without currency.
Transition Community
Communities actively building Transition-inspired structures and alternatives.

Any lived experience that challenges the assumption that the current system is the only way.
